Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin’s Solid Organ Transplant ranks in the top 25 percent of pediatric transplant programs for volume.
The total number of solid organ transplants performed at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin has increased significantly. From 2003 to 2004, 28 solid organ transplants were performed compared to 53 from 2006 to 2007.
Recent advancements in solid organ transplants includes liver transplants for children with metabolic liver disease making Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin one of only a few centers in the country to offer transplant as a treatment option for these rare genetic disorders.
